How Pet Clarity handles care notes, optional backup data, subscriptions, product analytics, permissions, and user choices.

What Pet Clarity Is
Pet Clarity is an iOS app for pet owners who want to organize pet care information. The app can help you keep notes about care, symptoms or changes you observe, medications, dose logs, schedules, visits and checkups, bills or estimates, mood check-ins, files, questions for a veterinarian or care team, photos, documents, and visit notes briefs.
Pet Clarity does not diagnose conditions, recommend treatments, provide dose advice, replace a veterinarian, or triage emergencies. The app is an organization tool for information you enter.
Information Stored Locally by Default
Pet Clarity is local-first. By default, care information you enter is stored on your device using the app's local storage. You can use Pet Clarity after purchase without creating an account or signing in.
Local data may include pet profiles, care history, medication schedules and logs, bills, schedule items, generated care briefs, notes, and any photos or documents you choose to attach.
Optional Account and Backup
Signing in and backup are optional. If you choose to create an account or connect Pet Clarity Cloud backup, Pet Clarity may send information to Supabase for authentication, database storage, sync, and backup.
Backed-up data may include pets, care history, medication schedules and dose logs, bills, schedule items, generated care briefs, and photos or documents you attach if backup for those items is enabled.
Purchases and Subscriptions
Pet Clarity uses Apple App Store purchases and may use RevenueCat to manage subscription status, purchase restoration, and app customer identifiers. Payment information, billing, refunds, cancellations, and subscription management are handled through Apple and your Apple ID, not directly by Pet Clarity.
Photos, Documents, and Permissions
Pet Clarity asks for photo or document access only when you choose to attach media or files. Attached items may remain local on your device unless optional backup is connected and the attachment is included in backup.
Pet Clarity may request notification permission after a contextual prompt for care reminders. Reminder schedules are primarily local device notifications.
Pet Clarity does not use advertising tracking, sell personal data, include a third-party ad network, or use analytics for cross-app or cross-site tracking.
Pet Clarity does not include the Meta Ads SDK, does not use advertising identifiers, and does not share purchase history with advertising networks or data brokers.
How Information Is Used
- To provide the app features you choose to use.
- To store, display, organize, and sync your care information if backup is enabled.
- To verify subscription status, restore purchases, and manage access to paid features.
- To understand app usage and improve onboarding, paywall performance, backup prompts, feature usage, and reliability of core flows.
- To respond to support requests and data deletion requests.
- To maintain security, prevent misuse, and comply with applicable legal obligations.
Product Analytics
Pet Clarity uses PostHog for first-party product analytics. This helps us understand which app flows are working, such as onboarding, subscription screens, backup setup, backup prompts, reminders, care item creation, brief generation, sharing, feature usage, and reliability of core flows.
We use manually selected product events with limited properties such as enums, booleans, categories, counts, and yes/no states. We may send events such as screen views, onboarding steps viewed or completed, paywall viewed, plan selected, CTA tapped, restore flow usability status, reminder permission result, add-flow option selected, entry type saved, medication dose logged status, schedule type saved, bill saved counts or flags, mood selected, brief generated or shared, backup prompt shown, sync success or failure, and care team invite actions. These analytics events do not include purchase history, transaction identifiers, revenue amounts, pet names, notes, medication names, file names, email addresses, or advertising identifiers.
We do not use PostHog for advertising, retargeting, data brokers, or cross-app or cross-site tracking. We do not enable session replay, autocapture, or automatic text or input capture.
We do not intentionally send sensitive care content to PostHog, including pet names, care notes, symptom descriptions, medication names, document or file names, bill notes, email addresses, or raw error messages.
PostHog may receive a pseudonymous app or user identifier so we can understand product usage across sessions. Before login, this may be a local Pet Clarity user ID. After login, this may be the Supabase user ID. We do not send email addresses to PostHog by default.
Third-Party Services
Pet Clarity may use the following services:
- Supabase for optional authentication, database storage, sync, and backup.
- RevenueCat for subscription status, purchase restoration, app user IDs, and customer IDs.
- PostHog for first-party, manually selected product analytics events and reliability signals.
- Apple App Store and StoreKit for purchases, subscriptions, billing, refunds, and cancellations.
- Expo and React Native may be part of the app runtime or build stack, but they are not described here as analytics providers unless intentionally configured later.
Pet Clarity does not use Meta Ads, third-party ad networks, retargeting pixels, or data broker services in the iOS app.
These providers process information under their own terms and privacy practices.
Data Retention
Local data remains on your device until you delete it in the app, uninstall the app, erase your device, or otherwise remove the app data through your device settings.
If you enable account backup, backed-up data may remain until you delete it, disconnect backup, delete your account where available, or request deletion. Some limited information may be retained when needed for legal, subscription, fraud prevention, security, accounting, or dispute-resolution reasons.
Your Choices
- You can use Pet Clarity after purchase without signing in.
- You can choose whether to connect optional backup.
- You can delete local care history in the app.
- You can sign out of your account if you previously signed in.
- You can request account deletion or backed-up data deletion by contacting us.
Data Deletion Requests
To request account deletion or deletion of backed-up Pet Clarity data, email hello@key.tools with the subject "Pet Clarity Data Deletion Request". We may need to verify that you control the relevant account before completing the request.
Local-only data is controlled from your device and may not be recoverable by us.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards appropriate for the nature of the app. No storage, sync, or transmission method is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children's Privacy
Pet Clarity is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided information through Pet Clarity, contact us so we can review and delete it where appropriate.

If you use Pet Clarity from outside the country where SAS Key Tools operates, your information may be processed in other countries by us or our service providers. Those countries may have data protection laws different from the laws where you live.
